The XRAY XB8R is a modern, high-competition, premium-quality 1/8 nitro off-road buggy based on the very successful and award-winning XB8 platform that was designed, developed, and styled by Dipl. Eng. Hudy Juraj. The XB8R, as with all other XRAY products, is exclusively manufactured by XRAY in Slovakia (Europe).
The XB8R features the most progressive details, with the focus on no-compromise competition performance, easy set-up/driving/service, extra long life, and unmatched value. The centralized, ultra-low center-of-gravity (CG) is created by strategically dividing the weight between the front and rear suspension to ensure the best track performance.
The XB8R was designed with the main aim to bring QUALITY, LUXURY and PERFORMANCE to every racer. The XB8R features many of the optional parts and high-performance parts which are usually found in the most expensive off-road cars in the market. XB8R brings all these premium and high-performance features together for a very affordable price.

Chassis:
The 3mm Swiss 7075 T6 anodized chassis is machined strategically in low-stress areas to be as light and as strong as possible. Material below the engine, fuel tank, and diffs has been removed to allow for the lowest possible center of gravity. Strong aluminum chassis braces make for a ultra-stiff chassis platform. The XB8R features the same chassis used on the XB8. The chassis features a new additional mounting hole for the optional adjustable engine mount to decrease chassis flexibility.
Rear & front braces
The rear and front braces are made from tought, stiff composite material to stiffen the rear of the car but at the same time provide sufficient and required flexibility. The rear brace is keyed to the rear shock tower and the bottom of the chassis.
Graphite parts
The radio tray and front upper deck are CNC-machined from high-quality blue graphite and feature countersunk holes.
Suspension block
The chassis features rigid front and rear diff housings on which all suspension parts are mounted. Easy access to both front and rear differentials makes maintenance super easy.
Transponder mount
The radio tray features a universal transponder holder that accepts a standard transponder as well a personal transponder.
Side guards
The side guards are made from special composite material to be flexible enough to withstand any abuse but also be strong enough to provide sufficient protection. The side guards are mounted to the chassis in four positions instead of the standard three positions.
Suspension
The XB8R features the easy to assembly composite suspension blocks which feature preset goemetry. The suspension blocks are robust designed to hold the suspension pins securely even in the worst crashes. The front suspension block is additionally reinforced by using a combination of composite and an aluminum suspension block.
Exchanging different suspension blocks you can easily adjust rear toe-in, front kick-up and rear anti-squat.
Rear toe-in suspension block
The XB8R includes two different rear toe-in suspenion blocks. By exchanging the two different blocks you can set the rear toe-in to either 2° or 3°.
Front kick-up suspension block
The XB8R includes two different front kick-up suspenion blocks. By exchanging the two different blocks you can set the front kick-up to either 4° or 5°.
Shock towers
The XB8R features front and rear shock towers which are CNC-machined from 3mm high-grade Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum. To provide a long life both shock towers are silver finished. Multiple shock mounting positions allow for numerous suspension settings.
I.S.S.
The front shock tower features XRAY's I.S.S. composite eccentric bushings that enable quick and easy adjustment of front upper arm angle to compensate for lower arm anti-dive settings.
Suspension pins
All suspension arms are mounted to the car through robust 4mm hardened suspension pins. The pins are manufactured from new improved material.
Suspension arms
The XB8R features brand new suspension arms. The suspension arms are made from tough molded composite of soft rigidity. These softer arms make the car more forgiving and are recommended for cold conditions and extra-bumpy track conditions (more stability). The soft arms are slighly longer than the standard arms, providing more stability on the track. The soft arms also feature an updated design allowing more downtravel than standard arms.
Anti-roll bars
The XB8R kit includes both front and rear anti-roll bars that are held firmly to both diff cases.
C-hub suspension
The XB8R features unique revolutionary C-hub suspension with Integrated Adjustable Caster? (XRAY patent) that enables you to easily adjust the same stock C-block through the entire available caster angle range. The XB8R includes the bushing with a preset 15° caster. Using optional set of eccentric bushings (#352171, #352172) all other caster adjustments can be achieved.
Suspension blocks
The C-block features an inclined kingpin design for increased steering and stability. The front C-block features two different roll center mounting positions. The rear uprights feature an extensive range of roll center and camber rise settings.
Steering blocks
Super lightweight composite steering blocks are a genuine innovation in their design and functionality. Each block features an inset steel bushing that is molded into the steering block. This concept enables the kingpin screws to be firmly held in the steel threaded bushing while the end of the screw is self-locked in composite to prevent the screws from loosening during racing. The steering blocks are molded from the lightweight yet very strong and durable special composite.
Turnbuckles
Fully adjustable turnbuckles are made from premium Hudy Spring Steel?. A new, improved material has been used for production of the front upper turnbuckles. A handy turnbuckle wrench is included in the kit.
Shocks
The XB8R features CNC-machined hard-anodized shock bodies with aluminum caps. Rubber shock boots prevent dirt from getting in. The shock set includes three pistons (1.3, 1.4 and 1.5mm holes) which are installed on heavy duty 3.5mm piston rods made from heavy duty steel. The shock design includes new improved shims.
Shock mountings
Shocks can be mounted in front and rear both on shock towers and arms in multiple different positions that were thoroughly tested and analyzed both in virtual reality as well as at the racetracks to offer the widest possible range of shock positions. This guarantees sufficient suspension travel and best set-up for either flat European tracks or large bumpy US tracks.
Drive train
The world's lightest 1/8 off-road drive train guarantees reduced rotating weight and increased performance. All drive train parts (CVD drive shafts, diffs, and brake outdrives) are ultra lightweight, strategically weight-reduced, and are manufactured from premium high-quality top-secret Hudy Spring Steel?. Wheel axles and wheel nuts are made from aircraft light aluminum, hard anodized for increased life and low wear.
Ball-bearings
The XB8R features high-precision rubber-sealed ball-bearings on which all the drive train parts ride. There are in total 24pcs of the highest quality ball-bearings.
Differentials
Rubber-sealed composite differential housings are manually precision ground after the molding process to guarantee a perfect fit with no vibration. Differential gears are made from pressed steel, heat treated, and machined for ultra-precision and smooth operation.
Gears
Main gears use Hudy steel (spur, pinion, crown gear and clutch bell) and are machined individually using a precision gear machine.
Engine stands
High-grade aluminum CNC-machined engine mounts help to dissipate engine heat.
Flywheel
The flywheel is CNC-machined from high-quality aluminum. The clutch features 3 aluminum shoes and a set of clutch springs.
Brake Disks
The ventilated brake disks are laser cut, heat treated, and machine ground from both sides to ensure vibration-free operation. The brake pads feature high-quality Ferodo pads. Brake bias can easily be adjusted via the dual brake linkages. The central differential housing is split for easy diff access.
Fuel tank and other nitro-related items
The fuel tank includes an integrated stone filter and splashguard to protect the brakes from spilt fuel. The tank is mounted using rubber grommets to absorb vibrations. A large capacity fuel filter is included as standard; the fuel filter is different from others as it is captured in a holder and will not turn as the result of vibration. Small composite holders secure thick 5.5mm high-quality silicone fuel tubing.
Air filter
The smooth-flowing effective air filter is made from two parts. Air filter oil is included as standard. The universal rubber allows it to fit any standard 1/8 buggy motor.
Steering
The steering plate is precision machined from Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum. The steering place features 3 different Ackermann settings for precision steering setting. The servo saver rides on durable steel holders.
Wing
The aerodynamic rear wing is molded from a very flexible composite mixture. At critical areas, all edges are reinforced to prevent breakage. Wing holders are mounted firmly to the rear shock tower. The holder offers numerous wing-mounting positions to guarantee the optimum setting for different tracks.
Wheels
Stylish XRAY Starburst wheels are molded from light but very durable material.
Electronics
The graphite radio tray features a laydown steering servo and upright throttle/brake servo arrangement; both servos are placed on the chassis centerline. Clever XRAY laydown servo mounts can be mounted in three different positions to accommodate different servos. Heavy-duty steering horns are included to withstand long mains and abuse.
Radio box
The large molded radio box features a clean design and layout that places the weight in key areas for a balanced car. For racers not using a radio switch, a handy molded cover is included to ensure a leak-free radio box! The tight antenna holder will make sure the antenna tube stays attached even if the car is flipped.
